Vanguard has announced that Managing Director Joanna Rotenberg will expand her leadership responsibilities to oversee the firm’s U.S. direct-to-investor businesses. In addition to leading Advice and Wealth Management, she will now oversee the Personal Investor division, which serves individuals ranging from first-time investors to families navigating complex financial needs including estate and tax planning.

CEO Salim Ramji cited Rotenberg’s “extensive experience running large self-directed businesses and delivering exceptional client service” as key qualifications for the expanded role. Rotenberg brings a decade of experience leading direct brokerage operations, most recently managing retirement, wealth, and brokerage at another major investment firm where she pioneered engagement strategies for younger investors.

Matt Benchener, who led the Personal Investor division for five years, is departing the firm. The organizational change is intended to accelerate progress on client service and experience across each investor segment.
