Standard Chartered has executed the first commercial API-based bank guarantee transaction using newly launched ICC-Swift API standards, processing the transaction for a global energy company through Komgo’s Konsole platform. The milestone represents significant progress toward creating an interoperable digital bank guarantee ecosystem.
The integration enabled real-time connectivity between Komgo’s platform and the bank’s systems, streamlining instructions and accelerating digitally initiated guarantee issuance. Standard Chartered was among the first banks globally to operationalize these standards in live client workflows, with initial deployment through its UK operations and plans to expand across all group markets.
Nicolas Djelalilan, Komgo’s APAC Managing Director, said “standardisation and interoperability are now live realities” supporting industry efficiency. Samuel Mathew, Global Head of Documentary Trade at Standard Chartered, said the bank aims to “make digital guarantees more accessible” while “driving operational efficiencies.”
