Visa has entered a definitive agreement to acquire Prisma Medios de Pago and Newpay in Argentina from Advent International. Prisma provides credit, debit, and prepaid card issuer processing services, while Newpay operates real-time payments services, the Banelco ATM network, and the PagoMisCuentas bill payment platform.
CEO Ryan McInerney said the acquisition is “an important step for Visa in Argentina, strengthening our client partnerships and advancing innovation across the payments ecosystem.” The combined technology platforms are expected to accelerate deployment of tokenization, biometric authentication, and intelligent risk tools across the country.
The transaction closed on February 27, 2026, in Visa’s fiscal second quarter, deepening the company’s position in Argentina’s payment infrastructure.
