Visa has released its Business-to-AI (B2AI) Report, conducted with Morning Consult, revealing that 53% of U.S. businesses would allow AI agents to negotiate prices directly with other AI agents and 71% would optimize products specifically for AI systems. Nearly 40% of Americans have already made purchases through AI agents they would not normally consider.
Consumer comfort varies by task: 58% are comfortable with AI comparing prices and 55% with AI applying discounts, but only 27% accept autonomous spending without limits. Trust increases significantly when financial institutions are involved, with 36% trusting bank-backed AI systems compared to 28% for independent AI. Gen Z shows the highest adoption rates, with 48% trusting payment network-enabled AI versus 20% of Boomers.
The survey of 2,000 adults and 512 business decision-makers was conducted January 29 through February 6, 2026, painting a picture of a commerce landscape where AI is rapidly moving from assistant to participant.
