Visa has officially launched its validator node on the Tempo network, joining alongside Stripe and Zodia Custody by Standard Chartered as external validators on the Layer-1 blockchain designed for agentic commerce and real-time payments. The validator node was configured in-house following six months of collaborative work with Tempo’s engineering team.
Cuy Sheffield, Head of Crypto at Visa, said, “By operating a validator on Tempo, we’re extending Visa’s commitment to reliability, security, and trust into blockchain networks.” Validators on Tempo earn stablecoin rewards when serving as lead validators.
The initiative aligns with Visa’s existing role as a Super Validator on the Canton Network and reflects the company’s broader strategy of operating critical blockchain infrastructure independently while supporting enterprise-scale payment systems. The move marks a significant advancement in Visa’s blockchain infrastructure leadership and stablecoin payment development.
